An open invitation to ‘Faith Day 2011’ at Holy Rosary

By BILL JACKSON (Holy Rosary Church, Evansville)

Randy and Ann Moore had a storybook marriage.

They had met on a reporting assignment, wound up working together at television station WTVW, began dating and married. They became popular television personalities and often shared the anchor desk. They also started a family, raising three children. Ann eventually left the station and took a job at a business development center.

Tragedy struck in 2007. Ann was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After a courageous battle, she died in 2009 at age 52.

Their Christian faith was tested as never before. But at the end, both Ann and Randy found peace in Christ.

It is a story Randy has told through “I Am Second,” a na-tional movement that seeks to connect those seeking answers to life’s questions with real-life testimonies of people who have found answers in Jesus Christ. He will tell the story again at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in April.

Randy will present a workshop titled “I Am Second” as part of Faith Day 2011 at Holy Rosary on Saturday, April 2.

More than a dozen workshops will be offered during the all-day event. Baptism is the over-all theme of the day.

Nearly 200 individuals attended Faith Day last year at Holy Rosary, double what planners had set as a goal. This year they are hoping for 250.

Several popular presenters return for a second year, and intriguing new workshops have been added. All are intended to increase a person’s faith and understanding and to answer questions about the Catholic Church. Four priests and three nuns will lead workshops, as well as lay leaders from Evansville and St. Meinrad Archab-bey.

The day will begin with registration from 8:15 to 9 a.m. and will close at 3:30 p.m. CDT. Registration already is under way. Anyone interested may call the Holy Rosary Parish Office at 812-477-8923. The cost is $10 for those registering by March 28 and $12 after that date. The fee covers morning hospitality, lunch, handouts and child care if necessary.

Father Bernie Etienne, Holy Rosary pastor, will offer a key-note address at 9:30 a.m. before workshops begin at 10:30 a.m. Some will be repeated to allow participants to attend as many of the different sessions as possible.

The schedule of workshops and moderators includes:
