Source and Summit retreat scheduled for both children, parents
The 2011 Source and Summit retreat will focus on “The Fruit of the Holy Spirit — Seeing and serving Christ in the poor — and the Capital Sins.”
The youth weekend begins Friday, April 1, at Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville, and ends on Sunday, April 3.
The website tells youth leaders that “if you would like to see your youth being empowered through the Mass to serve their neighbor and experiencing Jesus in the Eucharist then you want to make every effort to get them to this year’s retreat.”
It notes that “the primary goal of ‘The Eucharistic Source and Summit movement’ is to assist and support you in your efforts to inspire and prepare young people to live and give witness to the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Friday night will be filled with a talk on the Fruit of the Holy Spirit and Deadly Sins by Father Chris Forler, associate pastor at Christ the King Church, Evansville, the rosary and the celebration of the Mass.
At 11 p.m., all-night Eucharistic adoration will begin.
Saturday includes more talks about the Fruit of the Holy Spirit and Deadly Sins, witness talks, the rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Mass, and a Eucharistic prayer service.
All-night adoration begins at 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Sunday activities include Mass celebrated by Bishop Gerald A. Gettelfinger, the Litany of the Saints and testimonies. The re-treat concludes at 12:30 p.m.
While their children are attending the retreat on Saturday, parents have the opportunity to attend their own retreat from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Little Sisters of the Poor auditorium across the street from St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville.
