Celebrating the ordination of Bishop-elect Thompson: You’re invited!
Evening Prayer
Evening Prayer will be celebrated at St. Benedict Cathedral on Tuesday, June 28, at 6 p.m. CDT, the evening before the ordination and installation of Bishop-elect Charles C. Thompson.
This service is open to all members of the diocese. (Space is limited.)
Bishop Gerald A. Gettelfinger will preside; Bishop-elect Thompson will preach the homily.
At this service, the bishop-elect’s ring, crozier and pectoral cross will be blessed by Bishop Gettelfinger.
Bishop-elect Thompson will make his Profession of Faith and take an Oath of Fidelity.
Ordination
Around the diocese, plans are being finalized for organized travel from parishes to the ordination at Roberts Municipal Stadium in Evansville on Wednesday, June 29 at 2 p.m. CDT.
A “Vincennes Catholic Bus Trip” for adults, families and children is being arranged for the ordination of Bishop-elect Thompson, using a chartered bus. Travelers will stop at Stoll’s Amish Restaurant on the way home.
School bus travel arrangements are also being made for the “Frassati Youth Trip Junior High through Young Adult” group from Vincennes.
St. John the Baptist Church in Newburgh will provide bus transportation from the parish parking lot to Roberts Stadium on that day, starting with a noon picnic lunch at the parish.
