Mother Teresa Service Award recipients serve people in need

Editor’s note: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Evansville honored parish-nominated recipients of Mother Teresa Service Awards May 19. The Message continues a series of articles, with biographical material provided by Catholic Charities.

Donna listens to EWTN’s Catholic speakers, putting her faith into action by providing care to other parishioners.

Monthly, she drives an hour to care for her father.

She will get a call that a new baby was born and she will provide a meal for the family.

Once a month, she vacuums the church to make God’s house sparkling.

Donna is a group leader of kitchen helpers for Cursillo retreats and has been a group leader for Why Catholic from the start of the sessions.

Presently, she is Vice-President of St. Wendel Ladies Club planning ways to financially help the church.

Charlie and Rita Doll

Charlie and Rita Doll are both very humble and giving people for the community of Vincennes. Both volunteer for the annual Red Skelton parade and at the Red Skelton Center.

They have been great supporters of the Relay for Life. Charlie has been an active member through the Knights of Columbus while Rita has taken many meals to those in need.

They are silent witnesses of God’s love, cleaning snow for neighbors and others without a word.

“Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.” (Quotation attributed to Mother Teresa)
