“Formation Day 2010 was such a huge success, we are planning another one,” said Donna Gish, interim director of the Office for Catechetics in the Diocese of Evansville.

Formation Day 2011 will be Saturday, Aug. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT at the Catholic Center in Evansville.

“This day has something for catechists of all areas, including, but not limited to religious education, Catholic schools, RCIA, clergy and parents,” Gish said.

Mike Patin, a very popular and energetic speaker will give the keynote called “The Passion Epidemic.”

Patin asks the question, “What’s your passion temperature?” He will discuss “passion-robbers and passion-restorers, with a warning for the possible side effects of being challenged.”

Gish said there will be several breakout sessions, and “all the speakers are very good and passionate about their topics.”

Sessions will include the following:

  • Breaking Open the Word, by Benedictine Father Brendan Moss
  • Lesson Plans and Learning Styles, by Angie Will and Denise Weil
  • Leading Prayer — Creating Rituals, by Theresa O’Bryan
  • Making a Bigger Ripple — Expanding the Lesson, by Mic-kie Paulin
  • Personal Spirituality — Finding My Way, by Connie Schnapf
  • Storytelling, by Mary Jo Huff
  • Teens with Screens, by Mike Patin
  • The Joy of Recognizing For-giveness in the Catechumenate Process, by Benedictine Father Denis Robinson
