25 years of service

Teachers in diocesan schools recognized for anniversaries

Teachers in the Diocese of Evansville who completed significant years of service at the end of the 2010-2011 school year will be recognized at the annual Back to School gathering Aug. 4 at Holy Redeemer School in Evansville.

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS

  • Mary Catherine “Kathy” Bachman is a 25-year member of the faculty at Precious Blood School in Jasper where she teaches first grade.
  • Karen Dick teaches science and religion at Holy Redeemer School in Evansville. She taught for 10 years at St. James School in Haubstadt, before joining the staff at Holy Redeemer.
  • Kathy Groves, a fourth grade teacher at Holy Rosary School in Evansville, joined the faculty there in 1987. She taught at St. Joseph School, Evansville, from 1985 to 1986.
  • Government and history teacher Larry Mattingly is a 25-year member of the Reitz Memorial High School faculty.
  • Debbie Mueth is a kindergarten teacher at Holy Redeemer School in Evansville where she is a 25-year member of the staff.
  • Music teacher Ann Nagy joined the staff at Holy Rosary School in Evansville in 2006. She has also been a member of the staff at Reitz Memorial High School, Westside Catholic School, Resurrection and Holy Redeemer schools, all in Evansville, and at St. Wendel School, St. Wendel, and Marian Heights Academy in Ferdinand.
  • Lisa Popham is the assistant principal at Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville, where she has served for 14 years. She also served at Holy Redeemer School in Evansville for 11 years.
  • Joan Steffenhagen is a 25-year member of the staff at Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville where she teaches biology.
  • Jim Walling has taught music at Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville for 25 years, and also worked with the following Catholic grade schools: Holy Spirit, Good Shepherd, Holy Rosary, Christ the King, St. Theresa and St. Benedict Cath-edral schools, all in Evansville, and St. John the Baptist School in Newburgh.

During the month of July, the Message will feature teachers with 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service in diocesan schools.
