Mother Teresa Service Award recipients serve people in need

Editor’s note: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Evansville honored parish-nominated recipients of Mother Teresa Service Awards May 19. The Message continues a series of articles, with biographical material provided by Catholic Charities.

Greg and Susie Head have been long time very active members of St. Joseph Parish. They show a special love for those in need through their participation in Habitat projects, blood drives, and as volunteers with the soup kitchen. They are especially involved with and for the people of our sister parish, St. James, in Plaine du Nord, Haiti. Both have been on several mission trips. Susie has used her sewing expertise to help set up a small business for women to make and sell handbags and articles of clothing. As an engineer, Greg has worked with the people to build and maintain sustainable water systems that will supply clean water for drinking and cooking for the people there.

Mark Hill

Mark Hill is honored with the Mother Teresa Service Award.St. Francis Xavier, Vincennes

Mark Hill is a dedicated and lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Church (The Old Cathedral), Vincennes. Mark actively takes part in parish life as a Lector, Communion Minister and a generous participant in various ministries and programs. He has chaired and/or served on several committees, which were formed to meet a number of special needs. In addition, Mark has been very involved in Vincennes and Knox County activities for many years. He has a special gift of welcoming visitors and newcomers to the parish and the community.
