Mother Teresa Service Award recipients serve people in need
Editor’s note: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Evansville honored parish-nominated recipients of Mother Teresa Service Awards May 19. The Message continues a series of articles, with biographical material provided by Catholic Charities.
Tim James
St. Ferdinand, Ferdinand
Tim has given himself in many areas of outreach toward those in need. Tim, though only 23 years old, has modeled an ideal example of Mother Teresa’s love for the poor. Tim was one of two people to start a program through ECHO called Ace Care. This program assists those without insurance through physical training. This program through the help of a grant now has over 70 volunteers and assists over 60 patients since January. Tim is also involved in visiting those in North Park Nursing Homes, playing guitar and singing Elvis songs for the residents. He is recently involved in volunteering with St. John Parish in Evansville. Tim led the community service group for the University of Evansville as well as working with the local food shelters.
Jennifer Kennedy
St. Joseph, Evansville
Jennifer has been active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Congregation Acting for Justice and Empowerment (CAJE) for approximately four years. She has also been active with the St. Joseph mission committee, hospitality committee, and the Giving Tree committee for several years. Like Mother Teresa, she has always exhibited a genuine concern for the poor and disenfranchised.
