Mother Teresa Service Award recipients serve people in need

Editor’s note: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Evansville honored parish-nominated recipients of Mother Teresa Service Awards May 19. The Message continues a series of articles, with biographical material provided by Catholic Charities.

Jack and Eileen Nelson

Sacred Heart, Schnellville

Jack and Eileen have been active and supportive in the St. Vincent de Paul Society; visiting the homebound, providing transportation, and supplying of firewood to those in need. Eileen is prayer line coordinator for the parish and remains active as a quilter. Jack is active in the Parish Communication Commission and has served on the Cemetery Board. Both have been ongoing supporters and behind the scenes workers in numerous ministries of the church, as well as reliable supporters and leaders in local civic organizations. In the manner of Mother Teresa, they live the message of Jesus by doing small things with great love.

Margaret Schnur

Good Shepherd, Evansville

Margaret has been an active and dedicated member of Good Shepherd since 1985. For years she was instrumental in coordinating care givers and being a care giver herself for a former principal and housekeeper of Good Shepherd. Later on she again did this for a lady who had Lou Gehrig’s disease. Currently Margaret is a Eucharistic Minister, assists with weekly Mass/Prayer Service at the Good Samaritan Home and works the summer social. She is also on the Board of the Mary F. Thomas Foundation which awards scholarships to deserving Good Shepherd students. Margaret is a very Christian and caring person and definitely has God in her life.
