Mother Teresa Service Award recipients serve people in need

Editor’s note: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Evansville honored parish-nominated recipients of Mother Teresa Service Awards May 19. The Message continues a series of articles, with biographical material provided by Catholic Charities.

Bill Schulz

St. Theresa, Evansville

Bill is the face of our community to the poor. He has served 19 years with the Lions Club on projects including building a Habitat home, collecting eyeglasses and through Homeless Connect providing eyeglasses to needy families. For over 40 years, he has served in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He helped provide food, clothing, furniture and medicines to the poor in our area. Bill preaches Christian service by his care for the poor.

William and Diane Shinn

St. John the Baptist, Newburgh

Bill has served faithfully for many years actually some 30 years as treasurer for the parish St. Vincent de Paul Society. In that capacity he visits the needy in difficult times. Diane has been a church organist and accompanist, and music teacher for many, many young boys and girls over a span of some 30 years.
