Mother Teresa Service Award recipients serve people in need
Editor’s note: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Evansville honored parish-nominated recipients of Mother Teresa Service Awards May 19. The Message continues a series of articles, with biographical material provided by Catholic Charities.
Jim and Litha Snyder
St. Martin, Chrisney
Eleven years ago, Jim and Litha Snyder saw a need for a Youth Group in the parish. Litha recalled that in her youth, belonging to such an organization in her Church was a positive influence on her and her peers. They want the same experience for their children and their friends at St. Martin’s. Jim and Litha, being advocates for charity and unselfish ac-tions, have guided the Youth Group in many projects for the elderly, poor, and sick that have benefited others in the community as well as their home parish. They have invested countless hours in this endeavor and have led by example of Christ-ian charity.
Jim Tepool
St. Francis Xavier, Poseyville
Jim Tepool is a dedicated member of the St. Vincent de-Paul Society. He’s very involved in the local food pantry, Angel Food Ministries, and helps with the local community Good Samaritan project. He is always willing to help someone in need and if he is unable to help that person, he finds someone who can. He is a kind and giving man who serves his church, family and community well. “ The poor do not need our sympathy and our pity. The poor need our love and compassion.”
