Workshop to prepare for revised Roman Missal

By PAUL R. LEINGANG (Message editor)

“Implementation of the revised Roman Missal is nearly upon us,” said Matt Miller in a recent announcement. “Now is the time to put into practice all the things you have been hearing and learning for these past months.”

Miller announced that the Diocese of Evansville, in partnership with Oregon Catholic Press, is sponsoring a one-day workshop entitled “Now Is the Time,” to be held Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Catholic Center in Evansville. Lunch will be provided; there is no registration fee but free-will offerings will be accepted.

Who should be there? “Certainly music directors, choir directors, choir members,” said Miller. “But it is open to anyone who is interested. . . . No matter where you are in your preparation for the revised Missal, there should be something at this workshop for everyone.

The keynote presentation will be given by John Flaherty, a frequent presenter at bishops’ retreats around the United States. His keynote presentation is designed to be both catechetical and inspirational.

Curtis Stephan is scheduled as a presenter. He brings his years of experience as a parish music director, in addition to being one of Spirit and Song’s most popular recording artists. Stephan is the composer of Mass of Renewal, published by OCP, and he will present his Mass at this event.

Three breakout sessions are planned: The Catechist Connection with John Flaherty; Time Tone Taste with Curtis Stephan; and Let the People Sing with Louis Canter.

Register before Sept. 21 by contacting the Office of Worship: mmiller@evdio.org (800) 637-1731.
