Grants awarded to Sisters of St. Benedict

Members of Women of the Rule awarded the philanthropy group’s annual grants on Sept. 10 for five initiatives of the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand.

Women of the Rule, a philanthropy circle affiliated with the Ferdinand Benedictine sisters, selected these proposals for funding:

  • Restoration of the monastery’s grand piano ($5,000)
  • A new steamer for the monastery kitchen ($7,000)
  • Roof replacement and a new heating and air-conditioning system for the sisters’ home in Louisville, Kentucky ($10,000)
  • New Roman Missals and Li-turgy books ($5,405)
  • Roof replacement for the sisters’ home in Evansville, Indiana ($6,248)

Women of the Rule is dedicated to making a difference in the world by supporting the mission and ministries of the sisters. Members form a partnership with the sisters by providing financial support for important strategic initiatives of the sisters. They also have opportunities for personal enrichment through programs centered on Benedictine spirituality and values and offered exclusively by the sisters for Women of the Rule.

Members of Women of the Rule make an annual donation of $1,000. Two women may join together to make the $1,000 gift. The group currently numbers 60 individuals, who make up 40 member units.
