Three entries were selected from 148 submitted for a poster contest, to feature themes chosen for the second annual Respect Life Celebration held for the Diocese of Evansville.

Winning entries came from Rachael Kolumbus, in the seventh grade, and Emma Ubelhor, in the eighth grade, both at St. Benedict Cathedral School in Evansville, and from Taylor Frantz, a sixth grade student from Resurrection School in Evansville.

The three poster contest winners received a certificate during the Respect Life Celebration at St. Benedict Cathedral Nov. 8. (Related story: Bishop Thompson: Respect life from conception to natural death)

The three students also had lunch with Bishop Charles C. Thompson Nov. 2 — enjoying pizza with the bishop, Emily Snipes and Steve Dabrowski.

Dabrowski is the diocesan director of youth and young adult ministries.

Snipes is the Family Life Coordinator at Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Evansville. She and Matthew Miller, diocesan director of Worship, were largely responsible for the planning of the Respect Life Celebration.

All submitted posters were displayed in the Woodward Center in St. Benedict parish facilities during the celebration. The three students were called up to receive their certificates by Father Bernie Etienne, diocesan vicar general, who served as master of ceremonies for the event.
