Education and Formation

When and where did you begin formal study to the priesthood? Haubstadt Community School, Gibson Southern High School, Ivy Tech Community College, beginning seminary at Bishop Simon Bruté.

What other formation programs or processes have you completed? Industrial maintenance and I was youth minister for one year.

What’s next? What education or formation do you expect to achieve before ordination? St. Meinrad and I would really like to become better educated in Spanish.

Your Vocation

Keith DewigWho — or what — affirms you as a seminarian? Priests. TEC community. Youth in my youth ministry.

What area of ordained ministry is most attractive? Reconciliation.

Your Future

Looking ahead to life as a priest in the Diocese of Evansville, God willing, what are your thoughts on the following areas:

The importance of preaching. That just one word or phrase each week in a homily could change a parishioner’s faith or life.

Ministry in a cluster parish. What have you heard? What do you expect? I feel community is key to promoting a growing parish and vocations because of the bigger families they are exposed to.

The role of technology, if any, in assisting with your ministry. It can bring a great visual effect to help parishioners understand goals and how to grow in faith as a Catholic family.

The role of the priest in supporting vocations. I feel this is the most important for any vocation. A priest, I feel, is the key to helping someone choose and live the vocation that is truly their calling.

Qualities of a good priest. What qualities do you think most people want to see in a diocesan priest? A good family man, prayerful, hands-on, down to earth and sympathetic.
