Students write about ‘being a disciple’
Fourth graders at St. Joseph School in Vanderburgh County recently wrote acrostic poems about being disciples. “We talked about how we are called to be disciples of Christ,” said Diane Hill, teacher.
Here are some of their poems:
Determined, I go to church, show others kind actions, come to Jesus always, I trust others, pray to the Lord, let others go first, everyone is welcome.
- Madison Elpers
Do as I should, I will encourage others, say yes to Jesus, control your actions, I will read about Jesus, prepare for God, love Jesus, each day I will play.
- Brandon Werner
Determine to help others, impossible to break my faith, sacrifice, Catholics, important to help others, play fair, love everyone, encourage others.
- Matthew McDonald
Do as I should, I will respect others, say yes to the calling of Jesus, control your actions, I will share, prepare for Jesus, love Jesus, encourage others.
- Dakx Lannert
Determined to help others, I will be a good friend, share with others, care for others, I am going to follow in Jesus’ footsteps, play fair, lead others to Jesus, everyone’s welcome.
- Lance Bruk
Do things to help others, I will be nice and kind, say thank you, come and let’s pray, I will pray every day, play with people if they do not have any to play with, love and kind, everyone is welcome.
- Audrie Collins
Do as I should, I should follow Jesus, show others love, certain to follow Jesus, I pray, pray the “Our Father,” live kind-ly, everyone is treated nicely.
