Mass for Life Jan. 20
A “Mass for Life” will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 20, at St. Ferdinand Church at 8 p.m. EST. Everyone is welcome to join this Mass, celebrated by Bishop Charles C. Thompson, which is held as a send-off for over 350 pilgrims from the diocese who will be traveling to the March for Life in Washington, D.C. New Spring will be providing music for the Mass. Note of thanks from Father Dietsch
Father William Dietsch recently celebrated his 40th anniversary of ordination and has moved to a new residence.
The following note is addressed “to relatives, friends and well-wishers.
“I wish to extend my sincerest thanks and gratitude to all who were an important part of my anniversary celebration. The many cards and letters and gifts are much appreciated.
“Thanks to St. Wendel and St. Francis Xavier, Poseyville and Father Ed Schnur for serving as hosts for my 40th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood.
“Your presence at my Mass of Thanksgiving and reception and your prayers are very special to me.”

Roman Missal display at St. Meinrad
The St. Meinrad Archabbey Library is hosting an exhibit titled “The Development of the Roman Missal.” The exhibit focuses on the history of the Roman Missal, the book containing the prayers and rituals of the Catholic Mass.
The exhibit includes examples of rare and important missals from the earliest manuscript examples to the 20th century. The exhibit was created by Benedictine Father Harry Hagan, a monk of St. Meinrad Archabbey, and includes commentary and English translations of missal passages by students from St. Meinrad Seminary’s Advanced Latin class.

Choral music at St. Meinrad
The Bloomington, Ind., Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and musicians from Indiana University will present a free program of choral music on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2:30 p.m. CST in the St. Meinrad Archabbey Church.
Auditions for MEO Tri-State IDOL
The first round of auditions for this year’s MEO Tri-State IDOL will take place on Thurs., January 26, 2012 at Mater Dei Auditorium at 5 p.m. and on Mon., January 30, 2012 at Mem-orial Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Please contact Bev Williamson at bwilliamson@evdio.org for any questions.
Offering a ‘guide to congregational planning’
The Center for Congregations is offering “A Practical Guide to Congregational Planning,” a luncheon workshop, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eastminister Presbyterian Church in Evansville
The cost is $10 per person, with lunch and a book, “Holy Conversations,” included.
The center promises that participants will earn a model of strategic planning and discover resources to help them.
Lake Barkley Weekend planned by Marriage Builders
Early bird registrants will receive $100 per couple, if they sign up before Feb. 10 for a Community Marriage Builders marriage enrichment workshop.
There will be no cost for the workshop, but participants will have to have a hotel room at the Lake Barkley Lodge.

Appointed at St. Mary’s Warrick
Cheryl Richey has been named Director of Financial Services at St. Mary’s Warrick. She will be responsible for the operations of St. Mary’s Warrick Finance/Accounting department.

Prayers are requested for Paul Burch, 53, faithful custodian for 22 years at St. John Church, Loogootee, who is currently at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, undergoing tests, according to Nancy Summers, secretary of the four Martin County parishes.
