Message for Message Sunday
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
During 2011 you no doubt experienced some significant events in your family, in your community and in your parish. Perhaps you had a wedding or a birth in your extended family, perhaps a funeral. You may have had a new priest assigned to your parish, and we all experienced something new as the most recent English translation brought some changes in the Mass.
The year 2011 was quite a year for me personally and in my ministry, as I was appointed Bishop of Evansville in April, then ordained and installed in June.
We can’t predict what 2012 will bring, but certainly our strategic planning efforts will bring challenge and change — and opportunity, too, as we rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The events in the life of our extended church family are chronicled each week in the Message, our diocesan newspaper. The Message — in print and online — is our connection, with news about the people and the parishes of the diocese.
If you don’t have a subscription to the Message, or you haven’t yet sent in your renewal, I encourage you to do so. Let’s keep in touch.
With assurance of my prayers and best wishes, I remain,
Sincerely yours in Christ
